Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This high-end bot from Eufy is the most hands-free model we've tested to date. It vacuums, mops, and self-empties its bin and washes and dry mop pads without your intervention.
It doesn't feature advanced cleaning options or a bigger docking system, but it provides stellar performance at less than half the cost of the top robotic vacuums. It also features the ability to be able to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming with a robot is a simple, quick way to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. Many of the robots we've chosen are designed to run on their own without your involvement, so you can set them up to clean while you're out or start a session from your smartphone. You'll need to choose a robot with excellent navigation and object detection to avoid getting stuck under furniture or down the staircase.
Some models are better at picking up pet hair from rugs than others, which is why it's important to select a robot that can efficiently and effectively vacuum all types of flooring. Look for a model with dust bins that is able to hold plenty of dirt in between emptying and an nozzle that doesn't lose suction as it rotates to take debris.

Most robots need little to any maintenance, other than removing tangled hair from the rotating brush (and wiping its cameras or sensors, as required) after each cleaning session and periodically emptying the dustbin or an automatic emptying base when the robot is equipped with one. If you follow these easy routine maintenance steps, your robotic vacuum should last as long as a regular vacuum, and will help keep your home cleaner for longer.
While robot mops tend to be less flexible than their vacuum counterparts they do have the ability to suck up spills and puddles while they're doing their thing. The iLife V3s Pro, a great example of machine, is a great choice for people with carpets, rugs, or wood floors. It is quiet and has excellent navigation capabilities, which helped it overcome obstacles during tests. The charging dock can also double as a trash bin.
Pick a robot vacuum cleaner that has the ability to mop at the same time. This is what the Karcher RCV 5 does and it comes with other useful features such as live cameras that stream a grainy image to your app so you can monitor your children or pets and also a remote control that is easily programmed. Its navigation may not be as good as the other models in this selection but its 500ml trash bin is big enough and doesn't require frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that mop and vacuum are a fairly new addition to the market. These robots are more expensive and require a separate tank of water than standalone robots. However, they might be worth the cost for those who have stains that are difficult to clean or pets.
Some of the best robots can clean carpets and floors and also vacuum. There are many brands that offer robots that can perform both tasks exceptionally effectively. The Combo J9+, as an example, is among the top mopping robots we've tested and uses an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days worth of dirt. This is an enormous improvement over the Qrevo Pro which ran out water after mopping only 30 days worth of dirt in our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is a great two-in-one. It's compact and quiet, with a neat, fuss-free look. In our test rooms, it scrubbed the floors thoroughly and accurately - it was particularly good on rugs but it took several runs to completely remove soiled areas from wood. Its LIDAR navigation is very effective as well. It prevents hitting furniture and running over power cables.
It's a bit sluggish on the stairs however that's to expected from a small robot designed to work around obstacles. The only drawback is its mopping pad attachment, which was a challenge and wouldn't stay in place during our tests. It is also not capable of dealing with dried-on dust which makes it more of the vacuum rather than a mop.
It's still an excellent choice for people who prefer a hands-off experience and want to clean low pile or bare carpets equally well. It had a good amount of suction that helped it pick up fine dust from carpets and pet hair. One of the most appealing features is its automatic recognition of carpets, which increases the strength of the vacuuming to take on dirt that is embedded. It's easy to use and the charging dock automatically empty the dustbin when it is full. automated vacuum cleaner is a great feature for apartment dwellers.
Cleaning Apps
Most robot vacuums, mops, and sweepers have an app that allows you to modify cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, schedule cleaning sessions and change settings such as suction, the amount of water and scrubbing power. Certain robots have intelligent dirt detection, which uses map data and past cleaning data to identify dirty areas.
Having an app also allows you to create virtual barriers and no-go zones to keep your robot away from dangerous items such as cords, pet water bowls, and sharp objects. automated vacuum cleaner have laser navigation sensors that allow you to create virtual barriers, while others have small physical boundaries and barriers that can be placed wherever you wish to restrict your floor area.
There are still hazards to be aware of even though the top robot vacuums can recognize and avoid obstacles. For instance, the main brush can become stuck in long cords or curtains and stop the machine from moving. To avoid this you should clear the area of cords and tie up any curtains that are long.
Some robots automatically update their software, which manages the navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm. This enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It's recommended to check the firmware periodically to check the manufacturer's site or your robot's application for updates to the firmware.
If you have a huge house, consider models that have multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors with different suction settings. It can also automatically change to the highest power setting on carpets and boost its scrubbing capabilities with SmartScrub.
If you're looking to be hands-off, a robot with a voice-activated assistant is a great option. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be controlled by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It has a compact, self-emptying docking station and powerful cleaning motor that makes your floors sparkling.
